70’s Inspired Fall Fashion

70's inspired fall fashion

This season, the 70’s are coming back into fashion. The bold styles of the 70’s can be a bit intimidating, so in this post, I will demonstrate how to incorporate bohemian details into modern and wearable outfits for the fall.

1.  Button Front Denim Skirts

Button front skirts are shaping up to be a massive trend this season. These mid-length jean skirts give a casual and laid-back vibe, yet are still neat and dressy. For a balanced look, pair them with a flowy lace blouse or brightly colored peasant top.

2. Shift Dresses

Feminine and flattering, loose shift dresses make excellent layering staples. Try styling one in neutral color with a faux leather jacket, scarf, and tights. For a simple yet head-turning look, pair a dress in a statement pattern with boots. If you prefer a more fitted look, define the waistline with a thin leatherette belt or tie a patterned scarf around your waist for a 70’s inspired detail.

3. Bell Sleeved Tops

Though not the most practical, bell sleeves are an iconic look of the 70’s. Since bell sleeves make a bold statement on their own, try pairing a top in a neutral color such as cream, black, taupe, or caramel with jeans or a suedette skirt.

4. Shawls, Kimonos, and Ponchos

Shamelessly twirl your heart out in a flowy chiffon kimono this season. To channel your inner Stevie Nicks, style a fringed shawl with neutral-toned staples. Paired with cognac riding boots and jeggings, western themed sweater ponchos make a stylish go-to on a chilly autumn day

5. Flared Jeans

This daring jean is the most difficult to style of all the cuts, but makes for a real head turner when paired with complementary pieces. Try wearing them with flowy blouses, loose tees or sweaters, and jackets. For footwear, choose a structured boot or wedge. If a bell bottom is outside of your comfort zone, give a boot cut a try instead.

6. Fringe Details

Fringe is not just for music festivals anymore. Style a fringe-detailed piece with casual fall textures such as distressed denim, leatherette, warm knits, and autumn-toned prints. As a rule of thumb, be sparing with fringe to prevent the look from venturing out of hand.

8. Bohemian Jewelry

Eye-catching bohemian jewelry has re-emerged this season. Complete your outfit with silver statement bangles, long pendant necklaces, turquoise and silver rings, tassle bracelets, or coin-detailed statement necklaces. Don’t be afraid to layer jewelry for an eclectic look.

9. Patterns and Color

The 70’s were all about bold prints, bright colors, and fearless layering. This season, try spicing up your wardrobe with colorful floral blouses, patterned maxi skirts, and bright scarves. Style a single bold piece with neutral staples, or mix prints for a more daring look.

10. Maxi Skirts and Dresses

Feel like a goddess in a comfortable yet stunning maxi skirt or dress this autumn. Be creative with colors, patterns, and textures and even dabble with stylistic details such as tiers, ruffles, and layers. Pair these statement pieces with neutral toned sweaters and jackets. To take the look a step further, layer with vests or kimonos.

And of course, for an outfit that truly radiates peace and good vibes, be cruelty-free and avoid animal-derived materials such as leather, suede, fur, and wool. ❤

January Outfits of the Week

january ootw

There’s no better way to kick off wool-free winter than with a week full of fun outfits! In this post, I will share the outfits I wore each day of the week, Monday through Friday. (No, I won’t be showing you the super fashionable sweat pants and tee shirts I wear over the weekend!) Of course, all of the outfits are vegan because animals are meant to be loved, not worn! So here are my outfits of the week:

Monday

On Monday, I wore a black long sleeved tee shirt underneath this adorable jacket. I love how it is has the comfort of a sweat shirt with the put-together look of a denim jacket. I paired the jacket with a pair of distressed black jeans. I am also wearing a pair of crew socks with my trusty black combat boots (which will be glued to my feet all winter).

Tuesday

On Tuesday, I wore my adorable elephant tee shirt with a long gray cardigan. For bottoms, I wore a pair of dark washed jeggings, a pair of crew socks, and my favorite shoes 😉 .

Wednesday

IMG_20150114_173536714On Wednesday, I wore this adorable 3/4 length tee decorated with unicorns, bunnies, kittens, and puppies having a tea party under a tree. What could be better than that? Hopefully, the adorable shirt distracts from the fact that I wore the same cardigan two days in a row :P.  I tucked the tee into these dark indigo high rise jeggings, which match nicely with the design on the tee. And of course, I had to wear socks and boots again!

Thursday

Thursday’s outfit was a bit more casual. I paired a cream colored shoulder-studded sweater with simple black leggings. I wore brown and white mottled socks today with my boots (of course).

Friday

For my final outfit of the week, I wore a gray cable knit sweater paired with a turquoise and blue infinity scarf. I paired this with dark wash jeggings, pale blue crew socks, and boots.

Those are the outfits I wore this week! I hope this gave you some cruelty-free winter fashion inspiration. I would love to know which outfit was your favorite. Have a relaxing weekend! 🙂

Back-To-School Outfits

As I begin packing to head to college, I can’t help thinking about what I’m going to wear during my first week of school. In this post, I put together four outfits that are suitable for a school day. Hopefully they will give you some inspiration!

Outfit #1: Casual Vintage

???????????????????????????????This is my go-to outfit when I want to feel comfortable, yet cute. It consists of a pair of mid-rise shorts and a peter-pan collared tee shirt.  I like to tuck the front of the loose-fitting tee into the shorts for a more stylish touch.

Outfit #2: Pretty Effortless

???????????????????????????????

I tend to shy away from wearing skirts and dresses, but a skater skirt paired with a graphic tee is the perfect outfit for when you want to look pretty without trying too hard. (Pretty effortless, get it? 🙂 ) I also pair this outfit with Vans sneakers to further dress it down, but feel free to try it with sandals or flats.

Outfit #3: Laid Back

???????????????????????????????

This is the outfit that you grab without thinking on days when you are running late. The flannel tied around the waist gives this outfit an fashionable, hip edge, yet is functional, too. If you feel cold during the day, you can put on the flannel. Problem solved!

Outfit #4: Hanging onto Summer

???????????????????????????????

Since summer is still here, you may still be in the mood to wear cute summer tank tops. And you can! Just pull on a light cardigan over them, and grab some jeans or shorts to match.  I love how the burgandy colors in this outfit combines autumnal tones with the summery tank top and cardigan.

That’s all! I hope these outfits were helpful if you are heading back to school soon! And of course, no matter what you choose to wear, make sure it’s cruelty-free. Leather and wool pieces may look fashionable, but there’s nothing cute about where they came from.

Best,

Leila
