Makeup for Glasses

This post is for all of the glasses wearers out there!  With the inclusion of glasses, there are a few modifications that should be made to your beauty routine. These tips will help your eyes remain bright and defined, even when they are hidden behind your favorite specs.

The most important step you can take when you wear glasses is to fill in your brows! Bold brows define and anchor your eyes when they are behind your glasses. So grab your favorite brow powder or pencil and define those brows!

Glasses leave a shadow beneath your eyes, so it is important to conceal and brighten the under eye area. I recommend the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer and Eye Brightener Duo (sold at Ulta) or the Maybelline Fit Me liquid concealer, which is brightening on its own.

As an all-over-the-lid shade, I recommend using a shimmery champagne shadow such as Stila’s Kitten or Urban Decay’s Sin. Since the lenses of your glasses tend to wash out your eyes, a shimmery shadow will return their sparkle. Be sure to apply some to the inner corner! Then, define the crease with a soft matte brown. Run the crease shade along the lower lashline.

Your eyes can lose their definition when they are hidden behind glasses. If your glasses are thick-framed like mine, the frame already occupies a large portion of your eyelid space. Thick eyeliner will compromise this space even further, so instead, I tightline and line my waterline with a black eye pencil.

Curl your lashes! This step will open your eyes so they do not look tired behind your glasses. Finish with your favorite mascara for a bold look. Lift your eyelashes upwards and wiggle the wand from side to side to give the lashes additional length and volume.

If you are still feeling like you need some extra glamor, add a red lipstick or stain. Because I feel that a red lipstick can be rather overwhelming on an everyday basis, I like to use the Nivea “A Kiss of Cherry” balm stain to add a soft wash of low-maintenance red.

This is the look with glasses!

That’s it!  Hope these tips help you wear your favorite frames fabulously and confidently!

What awesome makeup suggestions! I normally wear my contacts, but sometimes I think people are unsure as to what makeup around the eyes works with their glasses. Love Anastasia brow products! I can’t go out without filling in my brows with their powder… an often overlooked portion of women’s beauty routine!

    • Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed my tips! I agree that filling in the brows should be a crucial part of everyone’s beauty routine, but this step is often neglected. It makes a huge difference! I love the Anastasia brow powder, but I would like to try out drugstore brow kits from Elf and Milani before repurchasing. The Benefit Gimme Brow seems like a convenient option too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙂
